Me and the Art I Love
When someone asked me recently to describe my art interests, the first thing that came to my mind is “color!” And if I had to use one word to describe my own art, it would be “colorful!” My other art interests are: abstract, illustrative, old-time engravings, pen and ink, charcoal drawings, and collage with acrylic. And I love black and white pieces with a few areas in color.
Van Gogh and Monet are among my favorites of the old masters and there is plenty of evidence of their impressionist influence on my work. There are many modern-day artists that have inspired my work as well, including Laurel Burch. I gravitate towards art that depicts the beauty of our world, and especially appreciate pieces that tell a story or express thoughts or ideas.
Enjoying the work of my fellow artists is one of my favorite things to do and more often than not, it sends me into the studio, inspired and excited to create. It’s a privilege to share my work with you here; I hope it inspires you to make some of your own!
